Ch1: Clayton King

Clay lay awake in his bed, staring up at the high ceiling. Why didn't Lily like him anymore? …Perhaps he was too rich? Or perhaps she didn't want her new peasant friends to get jealous...Alright, the Reynolds family was  also very rich...But what else could it be? Clay sighed.

He knew the real reason. He just didn't want to admit it. She thinks I've become too mean. But that's just who I am now! If she doesn't like me any more, then...Then let her hate me! Clay sat up and got out of bed. He had fallen asleep with all his clothes on last night. He was exhausted from doing...well, nothing. He was tremendously rich, and when he had a castle full of house elves and luxury, there was no reason to ever lift a finger.

Clayton King had warm blonde hair, bright blue eyes, and always wore a big grin- or at least he used to. Lately, when he looked in the mirror, his eyes had become duller, and he rarely smiled anymore. At least, not sincerely. He hated it when people called him his full name: Clayton. He preferred being called Clay, because it sounded less formal. But, he was used to being forced to be formal by now. His mother and (new) father had insisted on doing everything they could to make Clay the most formal, proper, spoiled and unhappiest boy on earth. He often just wished his old father were with him. He wasn't dead, but the way Clay's mother acted, he might as well have been. The only reason Clay had ever had to move away from Lily was because his mother, Astoria Malfoy(or King, now) had divorced his old(and better) father, Draco Malfoy. Now his father was Dixon King. Dixon King was not a good man.

He was a widely suspected Death Eater and had been to court many times, but had never been convicted. Clay knew he shouldn't feel this way, since this man was his step-father, but he had a feeling everyone's suspicions were right. Dixon King was very rich, as his great, great, great, great, great, more greats grandfather was a king of Scotland. He had inherited King Castle from his father, who was currently in Azkaban for being a Death Eater for sure. So, Clay had three relatives who were Death Eaters.

That may have been another reason Lily didn't like him. But when she'd met him and he'd told her about his father(at the time) being a known Death Eater, she'd said she didn't care...

Clay shook himself and put on his slippers. It was morning now. Time to go and be proper...Like every other day...In front of the parents he wasn't even sure loved him.
